Engagement Photo Session – Xiaochun & Junlin
I was given a blank card for this engagement session in Paris. The couple trusted my creative eye to chose the locations and plan the day. I love couples like this!
We started out on Pont des Arts at sunrise. If anyone knows this bridge it’s most likely the busiest bridge in Paris. We were alone! Xiaochun was surprised when Junlin got down on one nee and proposed. Me too for that matter… he never let me in the loop which could have been a good idea! Anyway, I got the shots of the moment which was very moving!
Following that we headed to Trocadero. I’m often asked, “Where are all the people? Surely there are a lot of people in Paris. Do you retouch your photos?”. I never retouch people or things out of my photos. The are “as taken”… no cheating on PhotoShop! If you want to get those shots where you are the only people in Paris this is what time you need to start.
Next stop was La Défense. This isn’t the first place that comes to mind when people think of Paris. It’s a shame because the area can be very striking from a photographic point of view. I was very please with the images taken here. I even entered some into an international competition by the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association. I gain 18th place in the Engagement Portrait category.
The final stop was in Paris’ Latin Quarter. This area is full of nice coffee shops along pretty cobbled streets. We got on so well that at the end of the session we eat lunch together before parting ways. They finished by saying, “Next time you’re in China we will photograph you on the Great Wall!”.
